Through our free holiday advice service the question we are most frequently being asked right now is about flight cancellation and delay compensation. Find out more about our free holiday advice service here.
In this instance, as most of the enquiries are about ‘flight only’ we are referring you to this extremely useful article from Citizen’s Advice.
How does this impact our clients?
All of the holidays we book are packages either through our well-known package holiday partners like Jet2 Holidays, or tailor-made which include a unique combination of flights, accommodation, cruise and transfers for our clients, i.e. we don’t sell ‘flight only’. Whilst our clients benefit from the same compensation scheme if their flight is delayed, they also have ‘package’ protection. Under these rules, when you book a package holiday with a travel company, the contents of that package are protected. This means that if there is any significant change between what you booked and what you receive, then you’re entitled to a full refund from the travel company. Conversely, if you’ve booked your flights, accommodation, car hire, etc separately if your flight is delayed or cancelled it’s unlikely that you’ll receive compensation or refunds for these separate elements, and it’s worth double-checking whether you’re travel insurance will cover this either… as most will not!
