Madeira has long been one of the most popular choices for my clients, and it’s easy to see why. With its year-round sunshine, lush scenery, and mix of culture and relaxation, this Portuguese island is perfect for both couples and families.
Our top recommended hotels in Madeira usually include the 5★ Savoy Palace, the Royal Savoy, and the 4★ Porto Residence. But recently, some lovely clients came to me asking about the Hotel Riu Madeira, an all-inclusive beachfront resort in Caniço de Baixo, just a short bus ride from Funchal.
And I’m so pleased they did, because while it wasn’t a hotel I was previously familiar with, I consulted my network of fellow travel agents, and the response was very positive. Now the clients are back, and based on their glowing first-hand feedback, I’m delighted to add the Riu Madeira to our list of recommended hotels.

What Our Clients Loved
✨ Spotless & Well-Maintained – The hotel impressed immediately with its high standards of cleanliness and upkeep.
✨ Friendly, Attentive Staff – Service was warm, efficient, and personal — something that makes such a difference to a holiday.
✨ Fantastic Food – The buffet restaurant was a highlight, with live cooking stations and plenty of variety. Guests also enjoyed a complimentary dinner at one of the à la carte restaurants, though they preferred the buffet overall.
✨ Relaxed Atmosphere – While not adults-only, the Riu Madeira felt very much adults-centric with little for children on site — making it ideal for couples seeking a peaceful escape.
✨ Evening Entertainment & Drinks – Guests enjoyed the live entertainment and found the bar terrace the perfect spot to unwind with a cocktail.
Getting Around
Although the hotel is set in a quieter area, it’s well-connected:
• Free Shuttle Service – Runs to Funchal, dropping you at the base of the cable cars.
• Public Bus Stop – Right outside the hotel, with fares to the city around €3.
• Taxis – A cab into Funchal costs approximately €15.
This makes exploring the island easy, while still enjoying a tranquil base away from the hustle and bustle.
Madeira In November?
Our clients enjoyed very warm weather in early September, but we also recommend Madeira as a winter sun destination as it stays warm and sunny even in November. Daytime temperatures typically hover around 20–23°C, perfect for walks along the coastline, exploring Funchal, or relaxing by the pool. The evenings are mild and pleasant, making it ideal for dining on the terrace or enjoying a cocktail under the stars. And with lower crowds compared to peak summer months, November is an excellent time to visit, plus it’s great value too!
For 7 nights all-inclusive, with flights from Birmingham, private transfers, and a double room with balcony/terrace and partial sea view, the price is just £750 per person (based on departure 31st October). That’s incredible value for money in Madeira!
Final Thoughts
Madeira never disappoints, and the Riu Madeira is proof that sometimes looking beyond the most famous names uncovers something really special. If you’re looking for a quiet, well-run, adults-focused all-inclusive in a lovely coastal location — the Riu Madeira could be just the place for you.
