To find the perfect trip to visit Santa in Lapland we’ll be asking you lots of questions, as your answers will help us book the perfect Lapland adventure for you and your family.
- How much are you looking to spend on your Lapland adventure. There are so many Lapland choices but none of them are cheap, so it’s good to understand your budget from the start so we can focus our recommendations on something that’s affordable, and not disappoint by suggesting a fabulous trip that isn’t.
- How old are the little ones? This is key to making the right recommendations to you. For very young ones short ‘taster’ activities might be perfect, for older children a full length snowmobile safari could be the perfect choice.
- How long would you like to be away? We do sell one day trips, these are surprisingly good, however, we recommend a minimum of two nights, but ideally 3 or 4.
- When do you want to go? The Santa season starts in late November and ends Christmas week. The late November breaks tend to be a little bit cheaper, and the closer you get to Christmas the more expensive it gets.
- What accommodation are you looking for? The two main types are log cabin and hotel. Log cabins can be perfect for larger families, and they tend to be part of a hotel where you will have your breakfast and dinner, and it will be your meeting place for excursions. The important point to remember is that every time you venture out you will need to get dressed in your full snow attire and the walk can be anything from 5 to 20 minutes, which is not ideal with very young children.
- Are you looking for a remote location, or in or close to a small town or village. The more remote you are the better chance you’ll have of seeing the Northern Lights, however, you won’t have the amenities of a local town.
- Where do you want to fly from? The vast majority of the Lapland bookings we make include regional charter flights. They only fly on certain days of the week, typically Sunday for a 3 night break, and Wednesday for a 4 night one. The majority of our clients fly out of Manchester and Gatwick, however, for certain itineraries Birmingham, Bristol and East Midlands (plus other regional airports) are options.
- Plan as far ahead as you can! This will give you the best possible choice of dates and accommodation, it will also give you the option to spread your payments by monthly Direct Debit;
- Make sure everyone has full travel insurance and a GHIC (Global Health Insurance Card which replaced the EHIC). Please remember that your standard policy may not cover the winter activities you’re planning so it’s important to double-check.
